Executive DirectorThe Executive Director is responsible for the management of all operations of the agency. Marcia received a BA in Education as well as a Masters in Business Administration at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She started with the Coalition in 2010. A former high school teacher and coach, Marcia has 30 years of non-profit management experience with organizations including the American Red Cross, YMCA and Boys & Girls Clubs. Her public service record includes serving as a County Board Supervisor and School Board President, focusing on public policy related to education and health/human services. Case Manager SupervisorBeth graduated with a BA in Psychology from St. Norbert College in 1992 and then went on to earn her MSW from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1995. Throughout her college and graduate school experiences, Beth has had a strong desire to work with older adults and sought out opportunities that would foster this interest. Beth has been working at South Madison Coalition since March of 1998 and during that time has held different positions including Community Options Program Case Manager, Assisted Living Quality Coordinator and most recently, Case Manager Supervisor. She is dedicated to supporting older adults to remain in the community as long as possible while preserving their independence and quality of life. Her role in supervising case managers helps to ensure that South Madison Coalition case managers share this same dedication and professionalism in all the work they do. SecretaryPeg has been the Secretary at the Coalition since 2000. Her responsibilities include answering the Coalition’s six phone lines, preparing monthly technical reports, editing the newsletter, maintaining databases and keeping the office organized. Peg has education and experience in health care, retail and marketing. She enjoys the fast pace and variety of her job. Although she does not have the opportunity to meet clients in person, she recognizes many callers by voice and feels a friendly attachment to many of the Coalition’s clients. |

General & Medical Assistance Case ManagerKari Davis has been a Case Manager at the South Madison Coalition of the Elderly since 2003. Possessing a Master's education in Human Development, with an emphasis in Gerontology, Kari strives to offer support to older adults in Madison. Her goal is to improve the quality of life for all of her clients, by connecting them to resources and activities. Prior to working at the Coalition, Kari worked for Elder Abuse in Boston, MA and managed an assisted living facility in Stoughton. General & Medical Assistance Case ManagerSandy is a Case Manager at the South Madison Coalition of the Elderly, where she meets with folks over 60 to assist them in solving problems and locating services in the community. This work includes applying for benefits they are eligible for as well as advising them of what services are available that will help 'get things going' for them. Sandy has her BS and Master's in Social Work from UW-Milwaukee. She has worked for Lutheran Social Services and Harbor House Assisted Living as well as held the position of Director of Social Services for a nursing home. General & Medical Assistance Case ManagerLucy has been with South Madison Coalition of the Elderly since 2011. Her goal as a General & MA Case Manager is to help people in their better years connect to resources that will increase their safety and well-being. Lucy earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Her work at South Madison Coalition was preceded by several years in the field of mental health in Madison and two years as a senior living counselor at a premier retirement community in California’s Bay Area. Program Coordinator & COP Case ManagerKatie has been a Case Manager at the South Madison Coation of the Elderly for the Community Options Program since 1999. Along with this position, she coordinates the Volunteer Guardianship Program, Representative Payee Program and Caregiver Partner Program. These programs recruit and train volunteers in Dane County to provide the needed assistance for older adults and their caregivers. Katie received her Bachelor's degree in Social Work at UW-Milwaukee and prior to coming to the Coalition worked at various nursing homes as a social worker. Nursing Home Relocation Case ManagerRenee has been a Case Manager at South Madison Coalition of the Elderly since October 2009 where she started as a Community Options Program Case Manager. Renee most recently started a new position at the Coalition working with the Nursing Home Relocation Program in September 2011. She has a BA in Psychology and Anthropology, and a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is also credentialed as a Certified Advanced Practice Social Worker (CAPSW). Renee completed her internships with Dane County Adult Community Services Developmental Disabilities Intake Unit and at the William S. Middleton Veterans Memorial Hospital’s Geriatric Education and Clinical Center (GRECC) in Madison. COP Case ManagerAndrea has worked as a social work Case Manager for the Community Options Program (COP) since 2009. She assists clients with applying for the COP program as well as coordinating services allowing clients to maintain a safe and healthy environment in their home. Andrea graduated from the UW-Madison undergraduate School of Social Work and then earned her MSW, specializing in aging, health and health care. Andrea came to SMCE with a background in work with the elderly in various settings as well as work on health care policy through a local health care provider. COP Case ManagerSince 1999, Krista has been a Case Manager with the Community Options Program. Krista co-case manages with a Nurse Case Manager when working with clients who have complex medical needs. She received her Bachelor's degree in Community Health and furthered her education with a Master's degree from Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois in Chicago. In the past, Krista worked as the Clinic Coordinator for the Salvation Army Medical Clinic in Madison and on the spinal cord unit at the Hines VA Hospital in Chicago. COP Case ManagerLaura has been a COP Case Manager at the South Madison Coalition of the Elderly since June of 2011. She was also an intern at SMCE as a Case Manager in 2009 and was a home chore volunteer with SMCE before that. Laura earned both her undergraduate and graduated degrees from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. In her graduate program for social work, Laura focused her studies in Health, Aging and Disability. She has also worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant with elders who have dementia, which helped her nurture her passion for serving elders! |

COP Case ManagerMolly joined the South Madison Coalition of the Elderly as a COP Case Manager in August 2011. She coordinates services for clients in the COP program with the purpose of improving their health and safety, and enhancing their quality of life. Molly received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology in 2001 and earned her Certification in Social Work in 2010. Prior to her work at the coalition, she worked as a case manager with adults with developmental disabilities at a Madison vocational agency, and gained valuable experience as a Medical Assistance Case Manager with the East Madison Coalition. COP Case ManagerJodie Castaneda has been employed at South Madison Coaliton of the Elderly as a COPW case manager for 5 years, working primarily with clients who have mental health challenges. She is also the lead Case Manager for the Dane County Dementia Support Team which works with dementia clients at-risk. Nurse Case ManagerLisa co-manages cases with a Social Work Case Manager on medically complex cases. She assists these (and any) clients with various needs such as scheduling and attending appointments as well as serving as a liason between clients and their doctors. In her work at the Coalition she also collaborates with the assisted living quality coordinator to complete country reviews for medication and health management. Before Lisa came to the Coalition in 2009, she received her BSN degree and worked in direct patient care in the hospital setting for 11 years. Additionally, she has worked as an independent nurse for small hospitals as well as various nursing homes throughout the state for 10 years. COP Case ManagerMagda started working as a Case Manager at SMCE in February 2008. She is involved with the Community Options Program (COP), providing case management services to at risk, older adults in the community. Additionally, she is a part of the Dementia Support Team at the Coalition. Magda completed her undergraduate studies at Rutgers, the State Univesity of New Jersey, earning a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. She went on to receive a Masters of Social Work, with a certificate in Gerontology from the University of Michigan. Before Magda began her work at the Coalition, she worked with the homeless population and drug addiction programs in New Jersey, and gained additional experience by working with the Alzheimer's Association. Assisted Living Quality CoordinatorJill, along with RN Case Manager Lisa, performs quality review visits with CBRFs and Adult Family Homes around Dane County. These collaborative visits are intended not only to identify areas that should be improved, but also to recognize good care. Jill has worked in various roles in the “aging world”---as caregiver, assisted living Associate Director and most recently as Outreach and Enrollment Manager in a Managed Care Organization. Volunteer CoordinatorJoan oversees the Home Chore Program at the Coalition and helps recruit volunteers. Joan has been a science teacher and community organizer and worked with volunteers in Oklahoma and Mississippi. In 2008, after returning to her home city, Madison, she joined the Coalition. Nutrition Program SupervisorFaith supervises the Coalition's meal sites and managers and oversees the Asian Meal and Sunday Dinners. She educates and monitors meal site managers and volunteers to ensure their compliance with agency policies, nutrition, and safety standards. She also plans special mealtime activities for the enjoyment of the diners at the meal sites. She has a BA in Family and Consumer Science, has taught food and nutrition for over 21 years and is a certified educator for health.
